Stand Up for YOUR EU CITIZEN RIGHTS in the UK !
Join the EU Workers Block at the Stand up to Racism demonstration on 18th March 20017, at 11.30.
WE WANT INDEFINITE RESIDENCY RIGHTS WITH EQUAL ACCES TO THE NHS, WELFARE AND SERVICES!
We came from European countries, like British citizens went to work or retire in other European countries and settled. Some of us are teachers, doctors, nurses, scientists, social workers, musicians, carpenters, plumbers, artists.
We came, believing we are part of this country the same way our countries are welcoming British Citizens. We thought we were all one. We invested, built a home, made friends, strengthened the communities we live in, got involved took part, felt home.
Now suddenly our rights are taken away from us.

British Engineering With a Romanian in a Septic Tank
Dear Jeremy Clarkson,
I am contacting you regarding your last role, in which you are impersonating a racist, stuck in a past British colonialist thinking, in which non British human beings had been used as parts, which should be kept in a septic section.
I know racist characters do not have all the information or are not capable to process the information, so I will patiently try to explain to your character some things.
Romanian is the second language spoken in the Microsoft offices, according to the USA Deputy Secretary of Commerce, Bruce Andrews, in May 2015.
Among 200 Microsoft programmers who tested Windows 2000, as many as 40 specialists were Romanian employees.
Romania is ranked the 6th in the world as professional competence and intellectual training in information technology by Brainbench, way on top to the United Kingdom whose population is 3.2 times bigger than the Romanian one.
Romanians were on the 3rd Place in Number of IT Specialists working in Germany, before Romania joined the EU (Federal Labour Agency).
Romanians and any other migrants could be used by their new country of residence as a brute force or they can be used to create new advanced technologies, if the governments and companies from their new country of residence are smart enough to harvest their potential.
USA and German governments and companies are doing this quite well, and this is one of the reasons why American and German driverless cars are more advanced than the others.
Your remark is pointing to your character’s limited capabilities and it is racist towards the British engineers, as you are suggesting that their brains allow them just to place a human being in an old septic tank.
We do know the unfortunate state of most of the UK “original car industry”, that had been bought by foreign companies, because of its failures, in comparison with the American and German ones, but I do not think it is fair to generalise this to the whole British car industry.
Your preconceptions will not help the UK Automotive industry to recover.
With regrets,
Dr. Tommy Tomescu, DMD

Dr. Tommy Tomescu, DMD

Romanian Student turned away from Holiday Inn Express because they 'thought she was a prostitute'

The Hull University criminology and forensic science graduate had booked the room online with her boyfriend but was appalled when she was turned away
Shocked: Alecsandra Puflea outside the Holiday Inn hotel where she was refused accommodation, allegedly because she is Romanian
A hotel has apologised for refusing a Romanian woman a room because staff wrongly branded her a prostitute.
Alecsandra Puflea had tried to check into a room at the Holiday Inn Express in Ferensway with her boyfriend on July 6, but says she was turned away when the receptionist found out she was from Romania.
It is understood the hotel introduced a policy of screening guests they believed to be engaging in illegal activity after other Romanian women were found to be using the rooms for prostitution.
Alecsandra, a 22 year old criminology and forensic science graduate, booked the room online, but when she arrived, she claims the receptionist said: "I'm sorry but we don't accept Romanians."
She said: "It was an awful experience and quite shocking. He took one look at my ID and said that I could not stay in the hotel. I tried to show him my British driving licence but he said I cannot stay in the hotel because I was from Romania.
"I was really confused and I didn't understand why they would do this. There were other customers standing around so I was very embarrassed.
"I was in such disbelief and shock that I left the hotel."
Miss Puflea had booked the room online for her and her boyfriend
Alecsandra complained to police, and it was only then she discovered the reason they turned her away.
She said: "I was very upset when I found out the reason they asked me to leave. Not all Romanians are prostitutes.
"It did make more sense when I found out the problems they had in the past, but it is still discriminating and wrong."
Debra Hutchins, manager at the Holiday Inn Express, declined to comment on the reasons why Miss Puflea was refused a room but denied she was turned away because of her race.
She said: "This is definitely not a case of racial discrimination and the hotel declines to comment any further."
The hotel have apologised to Alecsandra, and the hotel are reviewing their local policy to prevent potential discrimination occurring in the future.

Stand Up to Racism National Demonstration
Saturday, 21 March 2015
Over 15,000 marched against racism, Islamophobia, Anti-Semitism and the far right.
Hitler did not order the shooting of the Jews and gipsies straight away – he gradually took small steps towards that.
Nigel Farage and UKIP are continuing a campaign of continued racial harassment and victimisation of East Europeans, step by step, and based on their ethnicity or nationality.
First, last year UKIP created a national scare that 30 million Romanians and Bulgarians were coming to the UK. This did not happen.
Second, Farage instigated hostility towards Romanians moving in next door. Nigel Farage acts with impunity because he has not been prosecuted for instigation to racial hate and this will lead to further abuses of minorities. The number of racial attacks against Romanians has tripled in a year.
Third. You may never have expected to hear Marc Reckless MP discussing EU citizens’ deportation and claiming that that was UKIP policy, as he did last year, but he did it.
Fourth, Farage said he would like to eliminate much of racial discrimination law. Discrimination against UK or EU citizens, based on whether they are British-born or not British-born not is wrong, illegal and such behaviour should be prosecuted.
We do not know what Farage will say or do next, but we know where he is going and that he does not have any limits.

Discrimination against European Citizens in the Housing Benefit System

presented by Laurentiu Dumitru
The debate has become an increasingly depressing one for supporters of free movement, with the UK's major parties seemingly in an arms race in their anti-immigration rhetoric…
From 1 January 2015 all EEA jobseekers have to wait for 3 months before they can get income-based JSA. This will make sure that only people who have a clear commitment to the UK and plan to contribute to the economy have access to our welfare system.
After 3 months, jobseekers will also have to take a stronger, more robust Habitual Residence Test if they want to claim income-based JSA.
If they pass the Habitual Residence Test, EEA jobseekers will then only be able to get JSA for 6 months. After 6 months, only those who have a job offer or compelling evidence that they have a genuine chance of finding work will be able to continue claiming.
Debating Points:
1. What are the New Rules of Housing Benefits?
2. European Court of Justice Pros and Cons
3.Understanding UK and EU Social Benefits laws
4.Are EU migrants entitled to the same benefits as citizens of the host country?
5. The possible scale of discrimination
6. What is the likely outcome?
7. Conclusion

Silent Protest in front of Channel 4
Sunday 22nd of February 2015, at 3.00 am.
Alliance Against Romanians and Bulgarians Discrimination has been a co-Organiser of the Silent Protest @ Channel 4 - Sunday, 22nd Feb 2015
We were protesting against the manner in which Channel 4 decided to treat the Romanian immigration issue. We consider the approach in their documentary "Romanians are coming" unfair towards the majority of Romanian nationals that work and study in the UK, but fair towards the Romanians from the documentary.
The Romanians are coming has created a profound distrust between the leaders of the Romanian community in the UK and the rest of the media.
The producer of the documentary said to the representatives of the Romanian community from UK that they wish to present a balanced and fair position with regards to the Romanians coming in UK, but it is our opinion that this did not happen.

Atunci de ce sa acceptam titlul ''The Romanians Are Coming''?

Andrzej Rygielski described his experience of racism in the UK: “It’s getting worse and worse. This year I’ve been attacked at the beginning of the year in the shop because I’m Polish. People are shouting on the street after me, and also some customers, after realising that I came from Poland, ask me when will I go home.”
Tommy Tomescu is a Romanian dentist who has been working in London since 2010. David Cameron created an entirely false debate in his speech on immigration because he has focused on cutting benefits for EU migrants. But the simple fact is migrants – people like me – do not come to the UK for benefits, we come because the British economy is growing and we want to work.
He is perpetuating this myth that people from elsewhere in the EU are benefit scroungers or somehow “on the make” and then saying that by cutting these in-work benefits or housing benefits he can control the numbers of people coming here. It is not true, and a lot of traditional Conservative voters realise that, which is why they are turning to Ukip.

Xenophobic Violent Attacks of European Union Citizens in UK
Monday March 10, 2014, I was called by a shocked acquaintance who asked me if I knew about the pipe bomb attack which took place Saturday 08 March in Londonderry.
Because I had not seen anything on TV about this case I initially thought he was joking .
In the evening when I got home I found a few titles and few explanations in the press, but nothing on TV.
I wondered why a pipe bomb attack which was classified in the press as being racially motivated was not discussed on television in the UK.
I wondered if they had tried in any way to suppress discussion of this case, given that there are many political actors and the media who have contributed to the campaign against the Romanian, Bulgarian, Polish, or other Central & East Europeans. Now we see the results of their campaign.
Tuesday March 11, 2014, I called the local councillors, thinking they could perhaps help me to establish contact with the two families.
I noticed that while four days had passed since the event, it had not been adequately discussed. I wondered whether others had already judged the case through stereotypes and might have felt the victims deserved what happened. But it was clear to me you could not judge merely through stereotypes and without knowing the facts, considering that those people might need help.
Unfortunately many members of the Central & East Europeans community in UK judge other people through stereotypes and patterns, but are unhappy that others are judging them in the same way. This made me even more determined to find out whole story.
Thursday, March 13th , I was called by Andrei who had found my phone number.
Andrei let me know that that he lives in one of the houses in which they placed the pipe bombs, and was dissatisfied with the way local police were proceeding and with the support that was being offered by them: indeed, he is very concerned for the safety of his family.
He said that although the police said it would patrol the front of his house, when he stood to look out of the window to check - for six hours - he did not see any police cars.
Andrei asked me to come along and talk to the police to see what can be done and to find out more details.
Friday morning I flew to Londonderry where Andrew was waiting for me at the airport.
Andrei, 30, his wife, child and two cousins have all been living in Londonderry, for the last 9 months.
His brother, his girlfriend and two of their friends have also been resident at Lincoln Court Street nearby in the same city, since 2 months ago.
The distance between the two houses is around 2 minutes by car and 7 minutes’ walk.
Andrei:
- has been in Northern Ireland for the last 3 years;
- went to school to learn English and to apply for the yellow card which allowed him to work for 20 hours/week;
- never asked benefits in the UK;
- worked hard to achieve his current post as a manager at a big cleaning company, from which he is earning a reasonably comfortable salary which results in a high amount of taxes paid to the government;
- lived for 2 1/2 years in a village at a distance of 1h and 30 minutes from Derry but, upon getting a new job as a manager, he decided to move house to Derry 9 months ago, so as to be close to his workplace;
- received a very good recommendation from the owner of the house where he had previously lived, or would not have been able to obtain another house here from a different agenc;.
- knows many Irish people from all social classes;
- it is to be strongly underlined that they all have permanent jobs;
- there were never any scandals of any nature among the Romanians themselves, nor between them and their neighbours.
I ave also found that:
- Friday night to Saturday on March 8 at around 1.35AM, an explosion took place in front of their house door.
- They think the attack was planned deliberately for a time when everyone was home.
- The homemade bomb, containing 10 cm nails, was placed 30 cm below the hallway located between the two doors at the entrance to the house.
- After hearing the explosion all 4 of those who were all in the kitchen went outside to see what happened, while the wife remained in the kitchen answering the telephone.
- On the phone it was Andrei brother who announces that less than 5 minutes ago they were attacked with a homemade bomb with nails stuck in the mailbox, one of the nails getting to stick into the living room door, the remained nails being found outside in the garden, just the brush of the mailbox being destroyed, they were finding each other in their rooms at the time of the attack.
- On the phone it was Andrei’s brother who announced that less than 5 minutes before they were attacked with a homemade bomb with nails stuck in the mailbox ,one of the nails getting stuck into the living room door ,the remaining nails being found outside in the garden , just the brush of the mailbox being destroyed ,
- On the phone it was Andrei's brother who announced that less than 5 minutes before, they had been attacked with a homemade bomb. Nails were embedded in the mailbox, with one stuck in the living room door and the remaining nails found outside in the garden.
- Therefore the first explosion took place on Lincoln court at the distance of 2-3 minutes from the explosion on Andrei’s Street.
- It could thus be concluded that the first explosion had taken place on Lincoln court at the distance of 2-3 minutes before the explosion on Andrei Street’.
- They were shocked by these events which, which caused considerable stress to his wife at a time when she was 4 months pregnant.
- The Police intervened immediately and they are still investigating. No answers have been forthcoming about how the investigation is proceeding. The family are not provided with information about the case, and indeed, it seems the papers find out such information before they do.
- The neighbours are supporting them and say they can't believe such things are still happening today - that for decades they have not had any kind of incident in this area. Opinions are divided and some say that whoever has done this will not stop here if the family do not move. Others say that the police have to do their job. They have brought the event to the attention of the school, and there has been a promise to watch over the child more closely at school.
- Because of fear resulting from the event, his brother with his girlfriend moved to Andrei’s house.
- One of the friends had moved back to where he lived before.
- He was contacted by phone by the Romanian Consulate in Edinburgh, who said they were interested in Andrei's case, that they had contacted the police, and that they would try to secure permanent protection for Andrei and his family from the police or security companies. But Andrei said the only thing the consulate did was pass on the news to the Romanian media, to give the false impression they were doing something about the case.
- All Andrei has received, he said, was a police visit, and a promise to watch over the house at night more closely. There was a visit from an authorized person to teach them how to protect themselves in future danger, and lots of telephone numbers to use, to help themselves.
- Andrei wondered when they would take security precautions if not now. Did they somehow expect another event in which someone might be hurt? He also expressed a wish to be notified first regarding the investigations.
- The attack has put great stress on his wife, as she does not feel protected.
- Their intention is to move house to another city but not until their child finishes the school year. However, it all depends on how safe they are going to feel in this time.
- The police station is very entrenched, with high fences. Inside I talked with Mr V the case investigator, Andrei and his wife about the case.
I brought up during the discussion with the police that it is not normal for them to find out from the neighbours about the arrest and also the release of suspects and they should have been informed by the police directly. The police apologized for this and said that it would not happen again and that next time they would be informed first.
Mr V. who presented himself as one of the investigators of the case, asked us to tell him our names at the end of the discussion. Andrei questioned the seriousness of the investigation, given that the investigator did not even know his name.
Following discussions with case investigator V. he promised that from now on and for the next two weeks, the police would come and station themselves daily at Andrei's house.
I must say that I was not informed by the police in the discussions that Andrei's family had created a scandal or any social problems in the area.
Andrei’s wife received a sheet with instructions on how to make their home safer
We took pictures and videos during the whole day on Friday, but they are scared of being identified by others who might do the same. For this reason they asked me to shoot / pose them in positions such that their faces are not seen or to cover them later (through editing).
As we sat and talked in their house I had a feeling of insecurity whenever anyone passed by the front window and I realized how they must feel every night after these events actually occurred.
Following those events I have made a wider analysis of the events and I have reached some conclusions.
We must thank Nigel Farage, Daily Mail and David Cameron for their role in the campaign against Central and East European migrants. All can be considered responsible for what has resulted after their vicious campaign.
Their campaign has stoked prejudice against Central & East European Citizens, disregarding/playing down their positive aspects, and instead stressing the negative side, creating the impression that they are inferior citizens and firing hate towards them.
We all remember infamous Daily Mail stories about Central & East European Citizens benefits abusers, ‘Flights and buses full as Romanians and Bulgarians head for the UK’, one-way air tickets selling for £3,000, Central & East European Citizens benefits abusers, UKIP leaflets about 29 million of Romanians and Bulgarians allowed to come to the UK, and David Cameron's statements portraying the Polish as child benefit scroungers.
These shameful attacks have not been properly amended either by UK regulators or the judicial system in the last few years - a situation which has led to an unfortunate feeling of impunity for the xenophobes and racists who have started to use physical force against Central & East European Citizens.
This series of xenophobic/racial attacks have intensified and become more and more violent in the last few months, when we have seen a Polish biker beaten in London, petrol bombs thrown at the Slovakian and Polish cars in Rathcoole, smashed windows and doors of Polish houses in Belfast and pipe bomb attacks on Romanian family residences in Londonderry.
As taxpayers we need to hold to account the public television for mocking Polish, Bulgarian, Romanians or other Central & East European Citizens instead of offering them proper space to defend themselves.
The Alliance Against Discrimination of Central & East European has organised protests and petitioned political entities from UK and European Union in the last period.
We are inviting all to UN Anti-Racism Day - SATURDAY, 22 MARCH 2014, at 11.00 am, on a procession from Nelson Mandela statue, Parliament Square to Trafalgar Square rally.
Speakers at the event will include: Diane Abbott MP, Natalie Bennett (Green Party Leader), Christine Blower (NUT General Secretary), Jerry Dammers, Bruce Kent (VP Pax Christi), Jean Lambert MEP, Max Levitas (Cable Street Veteran), Gloria Mills (UNISON National Secretary Equalities), Claude Moraes MEP, Farooq Murad (Secretary General – Muslim Council of Britain), Mohammad Taj (TUC President), Dr. Tommy Tomescu (Alliance Against Romanian and Bulgarian Discrimination), Ava Vidal (Comedian), Maurice Wren (Chief Executive – Refugee Council)
The European Citizens need to mobilise to hold to account the politicians or newspapers which have encourage this campaign and the lack of law enforcement on the perpetrators of these attacks.
We have to do this before it is too late and somebody dies because of the troublemaking of what is just a few extremists, as the British people have traditionally been known as a very tolerant and open minded society.
Civic organisations have to intervene to preserve the rights and identity of the European Union citizens, to uphold British standards and wash away the shameful attitude of a part of the UK media and political establishment - one which does not represent the majority of the British people.

Xenophobic Attack Against a Romanian Dentist Working in the UK
23 Jan 2014
We have sadly been informed of a xenophobic attack on a Romanian dentist working in the UK.
It has come to our attention that the verbal aggression against our pregnant colleague happened in front of several witnesses, employees and other patients in a dental practice in the UK.
Dr Gina Giuliana Marinescu informed us that on the 11th of December 2013 a very aggressive patient yelled that Romanians should work on the farms and not as a dentists and that she shouldn’t be allowed to work in the UK. This had a very negative impact on our colleague’s general health as she experienced tremor, palpitations, lack of breath and chest pain.
Scared and frustrated, she contacted the authorities on the 14th of December, but it took the policemen over two weeks to show up at her house for a statement.
Following this, the policemen also took statements from the employees, but they were informed that the video recording had been deleted as they arrived too late.
We cannot but wonder why wasn’t she offered further protection, by means of restriction to be in the proximity of herself and her home.
Since all employers and business owners from the medical field have the legal and moral obligation to prevent and defend the staff against malicious xenophobic attacks, we find it hard to believe this ‘neglect’ that allowed the destruction of the video recording.
According to the law, the recording of this incident in the Accident Book on the 11th of December should have led the employees and the owner (also a dentist) to follow the necessary steps and to keep the records in order to clarify the situation.
Instead, Dr G. G. Marinescu says that she was officially informed by the Practice Manager that if she wishes to pursue this she is on her own and the practice will not get involved in any way.
Furthermore, on the 8th of January 2014, the practice owner handed to Dr Marinescu a dismissal letter, thus she may not be able to benefit from the NHS maternity leave.
Due to the stress, the mother-to-be had to be rushed to the hospital by ambulance with palpitations, arrhythmia and a poor general health.
Dr. G Marinescu has been working in the UK since 2008, where she says she faced difficulties due to the fact that she is Romanian, although she put in a lot of hard work and effort since the moment she was recruited from Romania by a UK corporate.
RDSUK will send a letter to the General Dental Council, asking that this incident is investigated and especially the way in which the staff, the owner and the manager have reacted. We feel that Dr Marinescu should not be ‘punished’ for daring to make an official complaint.
We also asked the police to clarify the situation and they confirm they are investigating the incident.
RDSUK condemns any xenophobic or racial attitude against any human being and especially towards any member of the community of Romanian dentists working in the UK.
We are also condemning the xenophobic and racial attitude that some politicians and media have shown, which we believe to have encouraged these manifestations against Romanians.
From January 2014, Romanians have gained access to the work force in the UK, there is a high risk that such attacks will repeat, we strongly advise any members of our community to contact us for support and guidance.
RDSUK would also like to remind that the majority of Romanian dentists working in the UK are highly esteemed by both the patients and their colleagues.

The Murnaghan Programme - Sky News
On 5th of Jan 2014, Victor Spirescu, ‘Cheeky Girl’ Monica Irimia and Dr Tommy Tomescu, DMD have been invited to The Murnaghan Programe.
We had a non-recorded discussion with Nigel Farage and has entered into the program after us.
AJUTATI-L pe Victor Spirescu. Ajutati IMAGINEA ROMANILOR IN UK.
In acest moment cauta un job in orice domeniu. In Romania a lucrat ca alpinist utilitar, electrician si in constructii.
In urmatoarea perioada presa va incerca sa prezinte doar parti negative despre el, iar noi ar trebui sa ii dam posibilitatea sa prezinte ceva pozitiv despre el. Adica, ca munceste si isi plateste taxele in UK.
Dr. Tommy Tomescu, DMD

All United Against Discrimination and Humiliation of the European Citizens
The British people have been known as a very tolerant and open minded society. But in the last years a part of the British media and politicians presented to the people a discriminatory image of the Romanians and Bulgarians.
Unfortunately after the entrance of Romania and Bulgaria in the European Union we had to get used to successive attacks by a part of the British media. There were presented only the negative facts, which were caused only by a minority of citizens of these two states and the positive aspects of our community, were intentionally out looked.
The British mass media continuously sustained this discriminatory campaign with the purpose of selling more and more newspapers.
Mr David Cameron and many from the British political establishment have decided that is best to act in their self-interest and obtain a short political gain, even if on the long term they will hurt the UK interest by portraying the country as an unfair partner. The history has shown us that the politicians which are having as an electoral strategy the denigration of a group of people are losing on the long term.
A month ago when a representative of the Romanians in the European parliament has taken attitude against Daily Express newspaper campaign he has been portrayed as a dog –“barking” and the UK Independence Party released leaflets in which they called Bulgarians and Romanians “nasty slimy bug aliens”.
These shameful attacks have not been properly amended by UK regulators or judicial system which unfortunately give us the impression that they are in line with either the UK governmental or parliamentary or legislation policy.
What is the difference between the times when racial abuses where conducted against blacks by calling them Monkeys and now when the citizens of the European Union nations are portrayed as dogs or called “nasty slimy bug aliens”?
Romanians and Bulgarians that study in public schools have been the target of a discriminatory campaign by the UK Government in the course of which they were differently treated than the other citizens of the European Union.
We demand our rights, European citizens’ rights and the rights to education without discrimination.
The UK government representatives and many of the media abusers may wish to say that they do not conduct a racial type campaign into the European Union, as it is directed against a nation or citizens of a nation and not a race.
We cannot see other difference, as in rest it contains the same characteristics by the fact that they:
- intentionally disregard/play down the positive aspect of the people about which they discuss
- have or create a prejudice attitude towards the Romanians and Bulgarians
- intentionally try to evidentiate most of the negative aspects in the media, creating the impression that Romanians and Bulgarians are inferior people
- create a hating attitude about a group of people
- discriminate.
If we add the fact that for a while the Roma and Romanians were presented to the British public as an altogether case, it is hard to find arguments to say that most of the British media and many political actors did not conducted or encouraged a racial type campaign.
Because of all the exposed reasons we demand to the European Union and British civic organisations to intervene to preserve the right and identity of the European Union citizens, British standards and wash away this shameful attitude of a part of the UK media and political establishment which must not be associated with the British people.

Pozitia RDSUK fata de declaratia ambasadorului român in UK
si recentul articol din Daily Telegraph
Am luat la cunostinta declaratiile ambasadorului Romaniei in UK, recent publicate de cotidianul Daily Telegraph, asupra atitudinii discriminatorii si rasiale la adresa unui medic de origine romana.
Romanian Dental Society in the United Kingdom (RDSUK) saluta pozitia ambasadorului român in UK, Ion Jinga.
